Marine & Water Resources
Since Bangladesh has the world's largest flooded wetland and the 3rd largest aquatic biodiversity on Asia after China and India, there is plenty of marine and water resources for the country. This has resulted in a lot of potential for the sector to grow and cause a substantial effect on the country's economy.
The utilization of these resources are generally dependent on storability and are used to produce hydroelectric power, for irrigation and various other purposes. Besides that, Bangladesh's fishes and sea food resource base is also very substantial. This sector is a broader version of the fisheries sector which only focuses on the food aspect of these resources. This sector focuses on resources that are generally underutilized and lack productivity growth due to inadequate investments and/or knowledge.
