Rozana Wahab
Chairperson, Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer

Rozana Wahab provides overall strategic guideline to the company and is responsible for achieving missions and objectives. Prior to becoming CEO of Ascend, she successfully managed a large number of projects as Programme Manager in the European Union (EU). She has expertise in designing, developing, managing and promoting economic cooperation programs including institutional capacity building, standards and quality management, private sector development, SME development, skills development and economic governance in developing economies. She played key roles in developing programs in Trade Related Assistance Section at EU and provided strategic guidelines as a key member of EU in many program implementation committees. She has demonstrated strong leadership skills by managing large sized EU programs in Trade Related Assistance Programs implemented by multilateral and bilateral agencies such as UNIDO, ITC, IFC, GIZ etc. and international contractors. She also managed several regional projects. She completed her Masters in Business Administration from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. She has 20 years of experience in her field.

Mobarak Shah
Advisor                         

Mobarak Shah having an MBA, has over 35 years of Business Experience. First 20 years as an International Banker in American Express, working in various countries of the world. Among the rest 15 years, 11 years as an Executive Director in a Consulting Firm (National Marine Consultants Inc., NMCI) in USA, where he is continuing to provide Management Consulting service to date. Mr. Shah was instrumental in the rapid growth of this Company.

His experience includes providing Strategic Direction, handling Change Management, Project Management (Global and Local), Control & Compliance, Finance & Administration and finally in Seeking New Opportunities.

His expertise puts him in a unique position as an ADVISOR for ASCEND International Limited.

Kazi Zahurul Azam
Director, Power and Engineering

Kazi Zahurul Azam, a graduate in Civil Engineering from BUET in 1966, a Life Fellow of Institution of Engineers of Bangladesh, having post graduate training in United Kingdom on Construction of Electrical Transmission & Distribution Networks & Associated Substations and on the job training in Japan on Electrical Substation Construction has 49 years of experience in power development comprising of construction of power stations, low, medium, high voltage & extra high voltage transmission lines & substations, system & commercial operations. He is a Gold Medalist of PDB due to his performance. He has thorough knowledge of project cycle management for existing & turnkey projects. Engr. Azam worked in Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Power Development Board (PDB), Dhaka Electric Supply Authority (DESA), Director of Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO). He also worked with international consultants for study on lending programs of ADB & other studies on power projects funded by USAID & other Donors. Engr. Azam stimulates advancement and development of technological capabilities across Ascend by providing technical direction.

Kasem Ali
Director, Technology & Innovations

Kasem Ali is responsible for all aspects of Technological development initiatives and Innovations at ASCEND International Limited. He has over 30 years of experience in various businesses including relevant fields. He started his career in the position of Director in engineering consultancy and gradually added expertise in inspection and surveillance business in UK. His engagement in Director position in companies such as CITech Co. Ltd, GrameenCyberNet Ltd. gives him the eligibility to claim his contributions in IT sector in Bangladesh. Mr. Ali is one of the pioneers in introducing Apple and IBM compatible computers in Bangladesh back in 1996. Mr. Ali also has experience of managing Bangladesh Development Gateway Foundation, a not-for-profit organization sponsored by the World Bank and the Development Gateway Foundation in the position of Director.

Md. Atwar Rahman
Director, Food and Nutrition Security

Atwar Rahman is responsible for the food security, nutrition, environment and social-cultural sectors of Ascend. He has 24 years of solid project implementation and management experiences both in Bangladesh and abroad in the areas of food security, nutrition and livelihood, humanitarian response, early recovery and rehabilitation. He worked with a wide range of stakeholders including high ranked civil servants, national & local government, bilateral & multilateral donors, NGOs, CBOs and private sectors. Proven experience on "Market Development Approaches" including "Value Chain" and market mapping market assessments. He has proven experiences in designing study and research activities along with the development methodologies.
